A plant to produce fuel-grade ethanol using cassava chips as feedstock is planned by TOP. At 500,000 litres per day this plant will rate amongst the highest capacity units in Thailand and be a major contributor to the Thai Government energy policy.
Ethanol can be blended into petrol (normally in range of 5% to 10%) to reduce dependency on crude and the inherent environmental problems associated with MTBE.
