The first stage consisted of development of a detailed design package including process and flowsheet development, selection of process equipment, conveyors and both slurry and liquor pumping systems, as well as preliminary design and specification of instrument, electrical, civil and structural systems.
This stage of the work also included the development of a +/- 30% capital cost estimate for the facilities. Shedden established a team of experienced engineers on site for much of the basic engineering phase.
The second stage took the project to a sanction quality estimate (total project value: $ 25 million) together with development of approved P&IDs, plant layouts, isometrics, detailed foundation plans and structural drawings.
The above work was undertaken together with Toussaint & Richardson who had responsibility for the “red-side” processes
