We have embarked on an exciting new development with the decision to adopt Microsoft SharePoint as the platform supporting our global intranet, SUBSpace.
SUBSpace is a powerful tool that communicates the details of the Uhde Shedden Management System SUBS (our Quality Management System); presents a portal to our knowledge warehouse and operating tools; and disseminates SUBS throughout Uhde Shedden to support consistent application of our tools and work processes. This last feature enables us to successfully promote sharing of project work between the global Uhde Shedden offices. In addition to these benefits SUBSpace is a source of material for continuing education and training of employees; and provides a web-based communication facility facilitating collaboration between offices and individuals in our multi-cultural environment. SUBSpace will continue to be available to all staff anywhere internet access is available.
Here at Uhde Shedden, we have a firm belief that shared virtual office working will become a significant factor in achieving the vision of an integrated global technology and contracting organisation. SharePoint is a user friendly application that will allow us to develop a more robust shared working environment to support that vision.
A project team has been set up in the Melbourne office under the leadership of our Manager of Business Processes, David Leach, to implement SharePoint. Initially the team will develop the application as the new platform for SUBSpace that is sensitive to our cultural and regional diversity. We anticipate that the relaunch of SUBSpace, later this year, will enhance international project delivery, and enable further improvement in harmonising our business with Uhde. Subsequently the development team will develop a shared working environment for project delivery, developing technology and new ideas, ensuring that Uhde Shedden continues to be recognised as a world-class engineering contractor.
