Project: Spring Gully Coal Seam Gas Development

South Queensland, Australia

The Spring Gully Coal Seam Gas field is located 75 km north east of Roma and the development covers an area of approximately 725 sq km. When fully developed, gas will be extracted from approximately 400 wells, producing an estimated 60 PJ/a. The gas is gathered at low pressure, compressed to 15.3 MPa, dehydrated to pipeline quality, and transmitted to the gas delivery point at the Queensland Gas Pipeline at Wallumbilla. In addition to gas gathering and treating, saline water from each well must be collected in a separate gathering system, and treated for disposal.

The project is being executed as an integrated team of Client and Shedden personnel, using Shedden Uhde engineering and project management software, systems and procedures. Shedden Uhde provided a multidiscipline design team, including key project management personnel.

Shedden Uhde has been involved in all phases of the project, from initial conceptual design studies, through Front End Design and Detailed Engineering and Procurement. Major optimisation studies included water treatment and disposal strategies and technologies, power generation options, field and gathering system layout, gas treatment and compression and pipeline routing options. The scope also included roads, infrastructure, power generation and distribution, as well as control and telemetry systems.
